Who is Mr. O?
MR. O is the design love-child of husband and wife team Michael Perez and Rita Motta. Together, the couple creates beautiful, custom objects that include furniture, jewelry, hardware, rugs, bags, and textiles. As the company’s designer, Rita Motta’s colorful and fanciful aesthetic gives a nod to classical design, but with a modern twist. Born and raised in Tuscany, Motta studied furniture design, worked for a Milan-based architectural firm, and had a stint in the New York fashion industry working for Missoni. After having met and married Perez, Motta came to Miami and worked for renowned interior designer Alison Spear. After 5 years working as part of Spear’s team, Rita decided to branch out onto her own.
Working alongside his wife, Michael Perez is MR. O’s Chief Art Director. Born in Havana, Cuba and raised in New York City, Perez’ background includes fashion illustration from Parsons School of Design and F.I.T. Michael has an innate talent and eye for arranging spaces, as well as a keen ability to foster client relationships. With experience in high-end sales at Stephanie Odegard and Holly Hunt, Perez’ eye for what works complements Rita’s designs. The two work together to create custom, beautiful spaces and objects for their clients.
